Fernando’s Churros is a churro truck that mainly stations itself at 827 East Montecito St, Santa Barbara, CA. Previously, it was right next to Santa Barbara High School, occasionally moving over to Santa Barbara Junior High, but it’s there anymore. It’s technical name is Fernando’s Churros and Deli, but most people do not refer to it as that name.
The thing that brings people to this truck most is their churros, obviously, but that doesn’t mean it’s the only thing they sell. They also sell lots of other foods, like burgers, sandwiches and other “actual” food items, but these are a lot less popular.
At this truck, the most popular item is a small bag of homemade churros, which costs only $5. This is an amazing deal, as they use the term small very loosely. The amount of churros we got we couldn’t even finish between the three of us, and we thought they were delicious. This can be payed with cash or with a credit card, according to their yelp page. When I was there, I didn’t see a card machine, and we payed in cash, but that doesn’t mean that it doesn’t exist.
Also according to many people who have reviewed their yelp page, they are the “best churros in Santa Barbara” and have an average rating of 4.5 stars from 17 reviews. After buying a bag of churros myself, I can see why. These churros were delicious, warm enough to burn your mouth, and covered in cinnamon and sugar. My mom described them as “exactly like they’re from Mexico”, which is high praise in her book, as she values authenticity.
Also, the guy working in the truck (who I assume to be Fernando) was so cool and fun. Despite the fact that it was late, and he’d probably been working for at least an hour straight, he still humored us and posed for us.
Overall, the churros were amazing, the service was great and it was a fun experience over all. Let me know what you think of Fernando’s Churros in the comments!
See you next time and remember,
